ParaLang was built from the ground up to respect your privacy. Everything we do happens directly on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any of your personal information, translation queries, or typing data.
As a custom keyboard, user trust is our top priority. We do not log, track, or transmit your keystrokes. Any text you type is processed instantly and locally on your device for translation and quiz generation purposes only.
When you enable the ParaLang keyboard, Apple displays a standard iOS warning stating that "Full Access" allows the developer to transmit anything you type. We do not do this. ParaLang requires "Full Access" exclusively to enable haptic feedback (vibrations) and to play audio pronunciations natively. Text translation is powered entirely by Apple's built-in, on-device Translation framework.
Our proprietary "Linguistic Shield" Filter Engine actively blocks sensitive data from ever being processed or saved. It is physically impossible to save certain types of data:
We only keep what you are actively learning. The app enforces a strict limit: we only store your last 100 translated phrases. As you learn new words, old data is permanently and securely deleted. This transient data is "Sandboxed" in a secure iOS App Group accessible only by the ParaLang app and keyboard locally on your device.
Once the initial setup, specific languages, and subscription are downloaded, the translation engine and privacy filters run 100% offline. We encourage users to disable Cellular Data and Wi-Fi access for the ParaLang app in their iOS Settings for complete peace of mind.
We strictly prohibit the sharing of any user data. We do not integrate third-party data brokers, advertising networks, or keylogging analytics tools. The only external service utilized is RevenueCat, an industry-standard SDK used exclusively to manage anonymous App Store subscription states securely. RevenueCat assigns a random anonymous identifier to verify your purchase and does not have any access to your keyboard input or translations.
ParaLang utilizes Apple's on-device Machine Translation framework to provide real-time language assistance. While we strive for accuracy, machine translation is inherently imperfect. The translations, pronunciations, and generated quizzes provided by ParaLang are offered on an "as-is" basis and are intended solely for educational, conversational, and entertainment purposes.
We make no warranties or guarantees regarding the absolute accuracy, reliability, or cultural appropriateness of any translation. Users should never rely on ParaLang for translating critical, legal, medical, or life-safety documents. By using ParaLang, you explicitly agree that the developers and owners of ParaLang shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, misunderstandings, or miscommunications arising from the use of, or inability to use, our translation services.
Because ParaLang does not collect or transmit any personal data, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain jurisdictions), nor do we track user age profiles.
